H&M Heads East

H&M the fast fashion reatiler is heading east. Taking its first step into South East Asia with the opening a new store in Singapore.

Due to open in the Fall of 2011 the store will be located on Orchard Road in Singapore’s most central shopping area. H&M reported that the sales floor will be about 3,000 square metres.

The retailer, which last week posted a 3% rise in October same-store sales, operates 2,143 stores around the world.

Dillards grows 3-D Curves line

Dillard’s the department store retailer announced plans to expand its private brand, Modern Movement private brand. The expansion will begin with the launch of a second bra featuring the ‘3-D Curves Wire,’ which has been designed to alleviate the discomfort of underwires.

The new B.F.F. (Back-Smoothing, Full-Coverage, Flawless Fit) T-shirt bra features a wire engineered with a twist to fit a woman’s curves; it flexes, relieving pressure points and reducing discomfort.

Designed for comfort the Modern Movement brand features bras with soft cushioned hook and eye closures, contoured padded straps, 2-ply comfort wings, tag-free labels and reinforced wire channels.

The ‘3-D Curves Wire’ has been exclusive to Dillard’s since March 2010, and the retailer says it plans to have around four to six styles in its assortment in 2011.

Taiwan gets Uniqlo

Taiwan is getting its first Uniqlo store today. The story is opening at the Uni-President Hankyu Department Store in Taipei, as part of its expansion efforts.

Located on the first basement floor of the Uni-President complex in Sinyi District the store will have 1,450-square metre of sales floor. Also included in the design will be glass display cases to help express Uniqlo’s “now” concept.

Uniqplo and parent company Fast reatailing are planning on having commemorative items as well as products that are specially priced, all to mark the opening of the store. Customers who make a purchase of TWD 1,500 or more will receive an original tote bag free of charge.

New Managing Director for Tommy Bahama

Martin Coles has been appointed managing director of international operations of Tommy Bahama Group the lifestyle brand. The appointment is to take immediate effect.The position is newly appointed and will have Coles responsible for managing all existing international business as well as expansion into new markets. Tommy Bahama currently has licensed retail stores and distribution in Canada, Australia and Dubai and is well positioned for further international growth.
